I consider this site to be like a strange candy store. People can get so much candy for free until they have to pay a fee and then they can get all they want for a certain period of time. Many people will get as much candy as they can, then learn that they have to pay and they don't consider it worth paying for so they just leave with their arms full of candy. Other people like the candy and keep visiting the candy shop and pay for it, but over time they gradually get less and less as they start devolping tastes for the different forms of candy and only get the candy that they know they will like. Sometimes they will experiment with a different or new form of candy and they might start getting that type instead or with their old form of candy.
Now in this candy store the candy can be sorted for each individual user based on the its type, number of people who have gotten it, some sort of arbitrary rating system in which some members of the store can rate the candy, and the date that the candy was made or changed. Most new people to the store will often either look at the ratings for each type of candy or they will look at the number of people who have tried the candy after they realize how much candy there is in order to make choices on which candy to get. People who are a member of the store would have either already gone through that phase or are going through it. After that phase the member might start going through all of the store trying to find that one elusive piece of candy that is their favorite. Some people are content with the candy they get and just sit around eating it and occasionally go back to check to see if any new candy is better than the ones they used before. Then from the members of the store, usually those that went through the store looking for that one specific piece of candy become the candy connosiers of the store. Some might even become candy experts and can be immensly helpful to those who need some help with their candy (this candy isn't your ordinary candy, some of it is very complicate stuff).
Some candy experts and connosieurs (and possibly some other people) decide to try their hand at making candy one day. Some of the results are good, most are usually not good, but many of these individuals keep trying. After several years almost all of the candy in the store comes from these candy creators. However some of the candy creators and and candy experts start to notice that the way candy is rated at store isn't optimal and is often not good at all.
However only certain members, mostly the candy experts, candy creators, and the members that purchased a special membership to the store can rate the candy. Most of these members that can rate have already gone through the store before aquiring the abiltiy to rate and know what they like and dislike. But they have a decent knowledge of what is good in the world of candy so they are suited for the ability to rate the different forms of candy. But these individuals know what they like and are much more ive of what candy they eat compared to the other people at the store. They also won't rate candy that they didn't eat as they feel this would be unfair. So the few ratings that are being given are going to the candy that the raters know they will like. However there are individuals who feel they have the responsibility to use their power of rating to better the store and help the creators of candy make better candy. But these individuals are in the far minority at the candy shop as it involves members that don't mind going out of their way. But life in the candy shop goes on and the candy still tastes good.
Sorry I was bored.
