Watch out for angry gorillas and rampaging elephants.

Normally Objectdock runs at about 14megs of memory, a little less than desktopx, but often, very often, it rockets up to about 300 megs ... all my available memory and it makes my computer completely useless while it is running. Is anybody else having this problem? Or a solution?

Okay, I started it, then pressed alt-ctrl-del to pop up the task manager. I watched the mem usage start rising from 5 megs on. I finally had to turn it off to write this here thing.

Just a guess, but I'm betting a Docklet is causing your problem.........

That's what I thought. So I unistalled objeckdock then reinstalled the newest from stardock central. Before I changed anything the base dock ran at about 2 megs. When I deleted items from it, the mem value jumped. When I added shortcuts to it the mem value jumped. I found that if i quit it then restarted it the mem dropped close, but not all the way, to the original. I also found that everytime I load a program with objectdock my mem value for objectdock jumped. After only intstalling the email docklet I found my objectdock mem stablized in a region around 7 to 8 megs. It stopped eating my memory, but I feel that it uses too much. But that might just be the way the program works and I'll have to wait for an updated version. I haven't tried any of my other docklets just because I am satisfied and because I am scared to add anymore.

My OD runs at around 5K (idle)...however, today I tried to add a 3D program (Wings3D) to my dock and everything locked up..the entire dock, I could move my mouse/cursor around but couldn't right click or open/close anything. I finally did a CTRL+ALT+DEL to check the task manager...OD had jumped to around a meg, I had to kill OD to get control of my computer again. So far, that's the only program that has happened to. I think it has to do with the fact that Wings executable needs/uses another program to open/run.

I've read on Microsoft homepage that there's a problem with the GDI+ engine, and when using the magnify glass. And i think this is the same thing that Stardock uses to magnify the icons... please correct me someone if i'm wrong here. I'm just guessing.

Me to have the same meomory problem! And it sucks bigtime i think.
I think the only thing to do is wait for a new version of ObjectDock.
